bad experience at work? good thing you weren't around in 2004.
No, not at work. It happened at home. At work the flushes seem to be pretty effective.

I just couldn't control my laughter reading this. You seem to have such interesting problems to deal with.. How to save water.. toilet flushes et al :-)
I guess most flushes that are fitted at flats (okay.. Mumbai, Pune..flats are a norm) have this problem. Atleast my experience has been so.. The work place ones which have to withstand soooo many people using them are aggressive and ruthless as you say(atleast my workplace has... but I have never noticed the brand). I guess they are costlier too for being ruthless and hence builders opt for the cheaper ones in flats which aren't as effective!
I think of problems that significantly impact mankind ;)

Difference between a developed and developing country | (Link)

Just returned back from my trip to China/HongKong, and flushes are a big difference. Even public toilets are lot better in those countries.
They had a force flush (guess has a motor) which forces water from the front of the toilet, draining all the contents, and only then filling it with some water. I haven't seen those kinds in India, even in five star hotels. Maybe am just inexperienced :)
Palani.

Not sure if it is linked to developed-ness or developing-ness. Strange we have not seen ads for water saving toilets, while we have lots for water saving washing machines. I think culturally we are lavish spenders of water and link amount of water used to the resulting cleanliness.
when u talk of brash and aggressive flushes, what do you say about the ones in airplanes, with air showers instead of water. In fact I find those scary :)
The in-flight ones are real brash ones. The sound they make is scary. Surprising we don't use some such thing for homes/common toilets.
yeah agree on this point... it is yucky to look at that blob yuck... they should seriously have the ruthless agressive and completely violent flushes...
:D

true man, probably we shud come up wth vacuum toilets, tat juz suck up (down?) n gulp d shit frm a$$. tat way, v also save a lot of water plus the energy spent on recyclin it. n if it juz cud suck, v also save a lot of biological energy. propelling it underground wil not b a problem, gravity wil take care of tat.
sravan
Yeah, vacuum toilets are a nice idea. But we need to make sure that they don't suck the intestines out :P
